The way these hoses are designed to work is with a taper type seal. If you look at the fittings below, you will see the taper towards the end of the fitting. The hose has an internal wound wire, similar to the outside wound wire that will accommodate the thread on the Ferrari fitting. There is no crimping or sealing compound used, the taper is the seal to keep the hose from leaking.

These hoses can be replaced at home as long as the home mechanic does it carefully and patiently. We recommend that you give yourself some extra length, since most hoses have dried up and shrunk. You cannot use the original collars from the car, you will need the oversize collars we have below to fit the hose properly, since it is oversized on the O.D. per the originals.
